BSNL to install 28,000 mobile sites, start 4G in FY18

new delhi: state-run bsnl will install around 28,000 new cell base stations throughout the country to update all 2g web sites with 3g and roll out 4g services at pick out places with the aid of cease 2017-18.



"underneath segment-8 growth, we are replacing all 2g base stations and old gadget with modern base stations that could provide 3g and 4g services. at select places, we are making plans to start 4g services. we expect to finish phase-eight through fy18," bsnl chairman and md anupam shrivastava instructed pti.

State-run BSNL will install around 28,000 new mobile base stations across the country to replace all 2G sites with 3G and roll out 4G services at select locations by end 2017-18.
the organization plans to apply a part of its 3g spectrum for 4g services. eu companies nokia and ericsson and chinese telecom device company zte are inside the fray for the assignment.

"nokia has emerged as the bottom bidder (l1) in economic bids and zte is 2nd runner up (l2). assessment goes in. we anticipate to finalise the vendor in april," shrivastava said.

the bottom qualified bidder gets agreement to update equipment in west and south region of the country.

"l2 bidder may be given east and north if it accepts to supply system at l1 costs," shrivastava stated.
